Directions from Porto

Route from airport: 85 km, Porto- take the A4 to Vila Real, exit Regua / Mesão frio (exit 18). Then follow the N101.
4 km before Mesão Frio, turn right at Rua das Corujeiras, kilometer marker 158, on asphalt / dirt road and after 1 km the first house on the left: welcome!

Tip: Book a rental car from England, which is cheaper than renting there on the spot.

Public transport

Quinta das Corujeiras is also accessible by public transport. At the airport, take the metro to train station “Sao Bento” in Porto. From there a beautiful train journey along the Douro of 2 hours to Rede station. You will be picked up from Rede station and it is a 6 km drive. We charge 20 euros for this (pick up / drop off).

It is seldom that I come to a campsite and think: I would do it that way! The location is special, it resembles a piece of jungle where birds are always singing. Yurt nicely decorated with beautiful romantic bed, beautiful wooden cupboard, table. Beautiful plants and flowers all over the site and therefore shade. Lovely to walk through, but also places where you can sit down privately. Toilets / showers super clean and even there, nicely decorated. Outdoor kitchen with pots and pans, fresh herbs, etc. Organized messy. And you can eat at long wooden tables. Central, cool, place of the campsite near their Portuguese house the coziness of a living room-like atmosphere hammocks. And most importantly, the feeling that Setha and Petra make you feel welcome here!

We had a wonderful few weeks on the quinta. Beautiful view, our tent on a beautiful, spacious camping spot and wonderfully quiet. Above all, we enjoyed the walks that can be walked from the campsite. A short walk through the garden / vineyard. A great opportunity to discover where you really ended up…. The other four routes explore the immediate area, as it were, each from a different point of view and you pass through the nearby villages of Mesao Frio, Gestaco and Treasouras. You have to like to climb and descend a lot and be able to handle the fact that the surface of the trails can sometimes be quite rough and uneven. But you will be rewarded with beautiful views in an ever-changing landscape. Vineyards, the Douro, forests, streams and an authentic environment. Along the way you will meet nice Portuguese and there are cafes where you can buy a nice coffee and relax. It is therefore highly recommended to take one or more of the walks if you are staying on the quinta for a while. But of course a visit to Porto, Lamego, Pinhao and a boat trip on the Douro should not be missed. All in all, it was very worthwhile in our opinion. Kind regards, Roel and Joke

During our tour in May 2016 in northern Portugal, we ended up in an Eldorado! A lovely rustic place, with a beautiful view of the valley. Petra and Setha’s hospitality was wonderful! It was nice to stay in and around the Yurt. Made beautiful walks and plotted a new one with Petra! Dear Setha and Petra, thank you again for everything! And good luck with your beautiful Quinta!
